In the two-stage approach, the implant is placed below the soft tissue and left to heal for 2-3 months in the lower jaw or 3-6 months in the upper jaw, with the abutment added in a second surgery. The one-stage method involves placing both the implant and abutment at the same time, eliminating the need for a second surgery.
